Love Poem: Do You Remember

Do You Remember

Do you remember...as I do
our first kiss with firm unexpected flutters
where tongues battled without fear

the rush of days in dank rooms
that gave freedom to our desires as lovers
with sighing whispers burning like crimson flames of hunger

perchance giving notice to starved emotions
from life's dreary circumstance of unfulfilled dreams
of needing to be properly loved

two lonely hearts trapped in amber passionate illusions
dressed up by romantic music
and wafting scented smoke from melting candles
dreaming of what could have been

though for an endless hour of unrestrained passions
from love's folly which covered three Winters
seen through the open eyes of make-believe

having met through happenstance
could that it have been another time, another place
under different moons
as each kiss was a storm of unrelenting thunder
exhausted from a daub of need
where energy was drained
leaving our flesh shaken and trembling

I can't help but wonder...does each picture we painted
still, hang in your secret gallery of yesterdays
as yours does mine
looked upon as a reminder
of the awesome power of love, we felt once
