Dividends of Love

How heavenly these memories I’ve stored
with you. Warm August days, strolling on piers
that gently rock and sway. Worries ignored;
right now, our bag of gold. On hold, the tears.
Deposits in my mental bank – warm nights
watching the dark’ning eastern sky together…
then magic! Full moon rises in our sights;
it surfs the bay (except in cloudy weather).
Investments paying dividends; as now
we watch the news update today’s death toll.
Businesses closed, new wrinkles on my brow,
compounding bad news borrows from your soul.
     Remind me to recall when life was good -
     help me withdraw fond memories as I should.
