Love Poem: Distant Hearts

Distant Hearts

Beside the rivers of where to go
Beneath the tree's of hope
I gaze, I ponder still a while
I dream, I think, I hope

Adrift upon a lavender breeze
Of Honey and hazel winds
I am lost, alone, in company
Whilst the delicate robin sings

You're listening but that wandering smile
Gives way your thoughts so far
Whilst I am earth bound
Waiting here
You're with the Northern star

Scented fields of poppies
Their red be proud and bright
And if I had but their pride you see
I'd return to you tonight

In the meadows, still I wait
Beside lakes whilst water ran
I say to you I'll come home soon
But I'm more poet than a man

Her ways are moveable
She bends with ease
Yet her eyes tell a different tale
As I wasted years, my time away
Alas, her heart set sail
