Distant Friends

Distant friends of a happy past,
our happiness was not to last.

I got rid of all hopes
the same day we kept
the distance and every,
and every you walked by
I stood there looking without
even smiling; there was
no way of telling what
was bothered me!

What a fool I have been,
I did nothing to stop you;
how much joy I would have seen
instead of sad smiles...
had I kept all the promises
I solemnly made to you!

Distant friends of a happy past,
our happiness was not to last!

Although we had a serious affair,
we didn't get lucky enough
to keep it up forever...
shouldn't we laugh?

So doubtful and insecure of a promised love
you look so angry and staring at me
you shout, " You're indifferent and don't have
a bit of courage to say, " I'm sorry. "

Distant friends of a happy past,
our happiness was not to last.
