Love Poem: Disparate Matrimony

Disparate Matrimony

Unity of two whilst same gender.
For love, for kinship, for the future.
Tied by the very hands of Destiny.
Of minute difference to the society.
Yet recognized as a monstrosity.
By those fueled by animosity.

The government goes with the flow.
Their people’s mindset they follow.
Perception still stuck in perpetual limbo.
Seen as despicable freaks of nature.
Freaks who defy the traditionalists’ culture.
It’s only a matter of time, said Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
The Heart of Acceptance lies solely within you.

Instilled with bravery, birthed the dot of Pink.
Freedom to love is their cause.
Persuasion of people is their real test.
Flaked by many, zealously they persist.
Every year unfailingly at Hong Lim Park.
The rally of Pink is held until dark.

On the other hand, are the religious.
Those that deem homosexuality odious.
Christians don white unto the rally of Pink.
Hopeful that the Pink will doublethink.
That the sins are condemned by a powerful being.
Besides the Christians, the Muslims are in this too.
But the others seem to be cool.

Notes
Just a disclaimer, this poem is not meant to rile up any hostile feelings and what not. I wrote it for my school project a few months back about the different perceptions of homosexual marriage in Singapore and nothing more.
