Love Poem: Disease

Disease

Cant blame the disease,
it infected you which effected me,
my childhood days spent worried,
I wanted to live a different story,
home was a jail,
many friendships failed,
When that booze got a hold of you,
stayed in my room stressed and blue

When vodka filled the floors,
I'd go to the bestie next door,
all day Id stay,
heard your guitar played away,
home build of pins and needles,
The only sane sound was the Beatles,
Music was always my vice,
took me to a place so nice,

Ive built my life without you,
much more pleasant and true,
took work to cut the bullshit,
a lot of elbow grease to scrape the grit,
life is much smoother now,
Deep inside I make myself proud,
Many people I know infected ,
addictions' hard to manage once detected,

Always been known to be shy and quiet,
I was on a 28 year emotional diet,
In case you might wonder,
I dont drink but sometimes I ponder,
what potential many have,
drug interference is such a drag,
Many loved ones tricked by your spell,
I chose a new path, i'm creating a new story to tell.
