Devotion Poem, Our Next Lives (For Jim) Good morning! Ten-thousand good-mornings We have seen. At the least! Together....and so I dream Of what could be in our next lives: We’ll still be coupled in such destined love And, while the same me...and same you... I’ll have become a dazzling beauty For you...and you, I think it would be fun, will take to singing Like the old-time crooners —like Frank Sinatra or Dick Powell — for romance For me...and we... Together will see thousands more Moonbeams sprinkling around us As the twilight’s fading brings me Again and again To hear your lullaby ‘s tune cradling me in air For thousands of coming good-nights We have yet to share. ————————————————————————————— (c) sally Young eslinger 1/28/21
