Love Poem: Desperation

Desperation

I claw through the dunes of unhappiness.
Even knowing that I cannot get through.
Every time I finish one, I see another.
It struggles to live, yet I wish it not.
They pop up randomly around the red globe.
And so, they survive, wiggling out their song.
Despair in its true glory.
I cannot kill all of it, the only time I did was when I was young.
There was a lot less then.
Now, they heap and stack atop each other.
Pile my worries along with theirs.
Does he? Does he not?
Lie myself down to take a break.
And watch as the red, red tides flow on the red, red shore.
No colors that I have seen before.
Wanting more and more of it
And yes, I am addicted to it.
Oh what keeps me from asking?
Oh what will he reply?
Can I live without him?
This, my friend, is love.
