Love Poem: Desired Love

Desired Love

My mother instilled a desire in me
A desire for love and connection
I wish I didn’t need this slight dependency
But it’s far too late for correction
So whoever you are out there
We’ll meet and into your eyes, I’ll stare

Many adults believe teens are not capable of love
We just want a fling or someone to claim as property
Am I not allowed to be deep instead of keeping my head above?
For I want my heart to be a victim of robbery
Whoever you are, you’re a thief
With a beautiful smile of shiny teeth

I want this love to have a gravitational pull
The love burning like Earth’s core
It is rooted in the ground and keeps our hearts full
And I’ll die knowing it’s you I adore
Instead of fear, I’ll be content
Because it’s our love and we’ll be laying in it
