Love Poem: Denouement

Denouement

A fair and frail lady, still childish in thought
Was in love with a guy she thought was so awesome
So awesome as to be allowed to see her bared heart
So awesome that her eyes sparkled whenever she saw him

The one who would be the ruler of her kingdom
The one who would hold her hand, even when it would not be needed
The one whose eyes would be shining brighter than hers
For he would see only her, as if she was a blinding angel with golden feathers

But then the frail lady came to know that the guy loved her not
The guy rebuked her and broke her esteem, and
Went on his way with the promises of Earth in his hand
The promises that Earth held for him, as pieces of juicy bait

While she remained sunken and torn
While she remained as a widow, engaged in mourn
While she sank in her own dark and gloomy shadows
While she slit her wrists, bringing to her dear ones, inconsolable woes

The guy came to hear what happened and realized how selfish he had been
He even came to see himself as being mean
He tried hard but found out each time that he could not bring her back
He fought so much with himself, till drugs and alcohol became his life's stock

Why, his kin tried so many times to make him smile
His peers, sadly, left him to tread on his own mile
His doctors wanted to see him cured
But it was too late, his rosy life had already been blued

Left with his own conscience
He waged a battle known to himself
He battled with demons and built around his soul, a fence
A fence which none could break, a fence with a happy face, meant to be a bluff

For none could see his sorry plight
None could share his agony
None could ever judge him right
Rather, they would condemn his pride, his aspired gluttony

But then, he could take it no more
One winter's night, when the cold was so sore
He chose to slit his wrist too
There, in the other world, he would see her, this he knew

He would apologize
For he was now one so wise
Why, she would forgive him
She had after all, always loved him!
