Love Poem: Deep and Dark

Deep and Dark

Haunting reflections cast in an ebony mirror,
implacable opaque surface did hypnotize.
Cool and aloof demeanour enriched allure:
I knew not whether death or madness awaited
but, for you, I was willing to take that chance.

Wrenched from obscurity and raised above all others,
I bathed in your glory, subservient to your whims.
Symbiotic relationship did flourish 'til
betrayal's brutal blade struck mortal blow.

Grievous crimson gash gouged straight through my heart;
this wound so far beyond suture to ever mend.
Mournful melodies replaced euphoric harmonies
as once-exquisite veneer cracked and peeled away.

With your true nature now finally exposed,
our lustrous spark has been forever extinguished
and this wicked masquerade has come to an end.
