Love Poem: Decisions

Decisions

Decisions
If love is a decision
Then hate must be one too
So I must decide to love or hate
And I must know what and who
This suddenly sounds funny
I never would have thought
I must admit I didn’t know
And really, I feel caught
I thought that love came naturally
No intervention needed
I thought that hate was often times
By hateful deeds preceded
But come to think of it I see
And much to my dismay
If I decide to love or hate
I can’t just have my way
The consequences good or bad
Are all part of the game
So I need to use discernment
On account of my good name
'Cause feelings do have power
They will take over the mind
They’ll keep on trying to persuade
And they’re not always kind
So it’s best to be decisive
Yes, it’s best to take a stand
One can’t afford to let things slide
You shouldn’t say ’I can’t’
’Cause what you sow you soon will reap
The same with love or hate
But if you do it consciously
You need not be afraid.
