Love Poem: Deceptive Sun

Deceptive Sun

it was the sun
that deceived me
streaming through my bedroom window
inviting me outside
promising warmth
and a glorious day

it was your smile
that deceived me
smoothly spouting sweet sentiments
brightening my day
encouraging me to discover
love in light

it was the sun
that deceived me
bathing the skin in golden luminescence
as though beauty
can be bred
from beaming rays

it was your eyes
that deceived me
lavishing hollow reflections of luster
blazing into my own
shining me on
with a glimmer

it was the sun
that deceived me
gifting the world appearance of radiance
illuminating the sky
with picture perfect
blue magnificence

it was your arms
that deceived me
encompassing me in solace
proffering trust
calming my angst with
a simple embrace

it was the sun
that deceived me
invigorating my confidence
infecting inspiration
exuding energy
and exuberance

it was your heart
that deceived me
fervently pounding and feverish
reverberating my pulse
harmonizing with
my misguided soul

it was the sun
that deceived me
luring me outside
I braced for warmth
but was met only by dark shadows
wind whips cold blasts
stinging my face
the only heat exists
within my burning heart

it was the sun
that deceived me
