Love Poem: Deceiver

Deceiver

You told me your name but I wonder if it's real.
You told me you love me but is it true? I hope...
You told me we're forever but is that really how you feel?
Thoughts and fears like these make me wonder if I can cope.

You wanted me to love you, but I couldn't help myself.
You wanted me to need you, but from you I could not abstain.
Why do you mistreat me, love me only when you want then set me on the shelf.
You were my true love, now because of you I only feel hurt, fear, pain.

Now you say you'll never love me again no matter how long we're apart.
How could you fool me for so long into thinking it was real?
How many bridges have you built just so you can burn another heart?
Only now can I clearly see that your absence helps me heal.

I guess everything you see in me is not everything you need.
Hate me now for everything you stole from me without remorse.
Don't blame me, you're the deceiver, you with all your greed.
How could you ever let us get so hopelessly off course?

Now you feel the hurt, the fear, and the pain.
Because now YOU notice I'm everything you see.
Now you know you're the one standing in the rain.
Now you know I'm everything you can never hope to be.
Now you know to leave me you must have been insane.
Now when you beg for forgiveness I will ignore your plea.
