Death In Grayscale

Death in Grayscale

Color him in grayscale
shaded in the somber.
Among stone sentinels of life
his longing just grows stronger.

Prayer in grayscale
what to say when at her grave.
All around is stark and bleak
like death lives in the day.

Tombstones in grayscale
shoulders touching shoulders
placed in tight formation
strategically like soldiers.

His world is grayscale
hardened graphite grief
with questions, as to why he lost
a love quite so unique.

Today he prays, flowers in hand
atop a frozen ground.
Death is gray, an unknown realm.
Just lay the flowers down.
