Dear Life, I Love You So

If anybody ever asks me about my feelings and thoughts about Life,
I would tell them how and when it all started, meeting you, that is.
I would tell them the place where and how and to whom I was born.
I would tell them of the other lives born in my great big family in a
little block house surrounded with good people helping one another.

I would tell them about mom and dad, grandma, 8 sisters, 3 brothers, and a dog name Jack. There were lots of things not to like, but Life, you
were not one of them. As a child growing up, I knew of several people who
died of natural causes, some who died by accident, but I never heard of any
who took their own lives. Their lives and ours were hard and deprived, took
a lot to survive, but it seems to a person, everyone loved themselves in the
healthiest of ways.

I don't know how we learned it, but we all knew that there was nothing bad
that you ever did to anybody. You gave love and we gave it back to you. It
was the least anybody could do. You never cheated, robbed, or stole from any of us, and you never abused and overworked us for dirt cheap wages. You were never the blame for sickness, death, and poverty. You held our hands and our hearts close to yours and fought to stay with us until but death struck our bodies.

Life, I love you so. You are always obedient to your creator who gave you to us. You are the one who draw our attention to the sun, moon, and stars above; to the beautiful sunrise and sunsets; to the high mountain peaks and the great expanse of the oceans and seas; to the great sounds of a rushing river. Oh, Life, it is you who enable us to observe the beauty of the birds and the bees, to hear them chirp and zoom through the air, to bath in the sounds of ruffles in the trees. Oh, Life, without you, we could not enjoy any of God's great creation.

This world has much in its offerings, both the good, bad, and the ugly, but I
must say that I have been blessed with the likes of you allowing me to choose
the good and refuse as much of the bad and ugly as possible. Life, your God
must be mighty proud of you. I certainly am, and I seek to live a life of faith and expectancy always anticipating that the best is yet to come.

I know that some people go through you filled with bitterness, unforgiveness, and regrets. I am not one of them. My first three-score and ten has been mostly good, and I have every reason to believe that the next years will be even better. Yes, Life, you are a friend of mine, and I love you so, both now and always.
