Daylight

Daylight

It’s the start of day when sunshine burns my mind
It’s the beginning of hours when sorrow sours
Make the moment of clarity leave me blind
So I can imagine the sea at the edge of the tower

Daylight bursting at the seams, fading are the dreams
Of stormy skies where the nightmares were conceived
Shadows never cast as your eyes are hit by the beams
Reality filters in my mind from light previously unseen

If I could only reach a little farther, I could touch the sound
Your heartbeat faintly beating in the recesses of my mind
Keeping me alive, the same beat to the love we have found
Down to the basics now as my emotions slowly unwind

The mountain air contains the thoughts you cannot hear
One day soon I’ll recount the words that spawned up here
I’ll feel empathy for the lost soul trapped in this lonely fear
Who reached for your hand only to watch it disappear

I wake up from the dream and survey the reality seen
I roll to your corner where our smiles no longer hide
I laugh as the sunlight bursts through my lonely dreams
And into my mind where our realities both collide
