Love Poem: Dario

Dario

saying good-bye to a love I once knew
realizing it's time to move on and find someone new
letting go of the feelings....devotion, love, obsession
just to name a few
is one of the hardest things I'll ever have to do
but do it I must, for the time has come
to forget about the loneliness, the pain, and the lust
I fell in love with you and all that you are
but you kept me at a distance and far, so very far
I am sorry that it took me so long to see
that a relationship with you and I could never be
I tried several times to walk away, something like three
but you told me you cared and didn't want to lose me
when someone is loyal to you and feels so much attraction
they will look for any excuse to keep that attachment
yearning for your caress, feeling so much passion
all I ever wanted was to shower you with love and affection
I guess I was looking for courtship and not just copulation
and all you were willing to give was pleasure and sexual satisfaction
even so, I will still cherish each moment spent with you, my beloved
but I guess I'm not so lovable and not destined to ever keep a husband
so I will remember your tenderness no matter how brief
and try to block out my disappointment and grief
I love you, Dario, and was happy to have known you
I'm giving up now on my humiliation, embarrassment, and loneliness
I wish you the best success in all that you do
and remember there once was a girl named Evelyn who loved you
