Love Poem: Dancing At Twilight

Dancing At Twilight

The meadow's fragrance lingers
As twilight makes bold of its demand.
I deftly touch your fingers
Before reaching for your hand.

The fireflies are a twinklin'
With a dance of love and mad torment.
The thunderclouds cease sprinkling
Which can be only Heaven sent.

The pond lies still beneath the night
Where the pussy willows grow.
There is duckweed and marliac white
To tickle at our toes.

A moment fraught with repercussions
That for years was thought amiss
And despite some past discussions...
You feel compelled to steal a kiss.

The crickets lose their thunder,
They are enthralled as much as I,
Unable to match the wonder
That haunts your deep brown eyes.

Your skin trembles at each caressing
As I smooth the tresses in your hair.
With no time lost to second guessing...
I have an Angel in my care.

Your silhouette shines a glowing
With a saintly nimbus o'er your head.
I am speechless and unknowing...
My thoughts remain unsaid.

With moonlight's brash obsession
And a cheeky Nature at her best.
We lay waste any erstwhile discretion
We'd previously expressed.

Our senses trapped in sheer delight
With past yearnings to pursue.
In unison with this euphonic night...
We dance as lovers do.

Life's trepidation now rings hollow
As we tumble in the grass
But the days that surely follow
Will not measure with the past.

                The End
