Dance With Me

Dance with Me

Please dance with me beneath these stars as they light up this southern sky,
Just hold me close and move real slow as all naysayers pass us by,
The night is warm,we both are young and yes this is our final chance,
To feel the touch we crave so much, so take me in your arms; let's dance.

Your eyes are telling me that this is what you really want to do,
And for so long I've only dreamed of being held so close to you,
I want to feel your heartbeat as you pull me closer to your chest,
I want to lay my head there on your shoulder for a moment's rest.

Our friends there in the bonfire's light just laughing and they have no clue,
That all this year I've held this crush and that I'm so in love with you,
Just sweet 16 but yet I know that you're the one that's meant for me,
Dancing while that song plays on with you is where I want to be.

You're moving closer to me now and I can feel my heart stand still,
Your smile is burning through my soul, I can't describe the way I feel,
Your outstretched hand as you take mine and lead me out across the sand,
Now slow and sweet we sway to music played by some sweet sixties band.

Now all at once the earth stands still and all five senses are aware,
Your skin is soft, you smell so nice, our friends watch now and I don't care,
This might not be forever and the future may not be our own,
But in my mind this is my hope for I have loved you for so long.

This beach, these stars, your special touch in morning's light will all be gone,
The glowing fire will be but ash and we will all be back at home,
Still I will keep this night forever written in a happy place,
That neither time nor future plans will have a reason to erase.
