Love Poem: Dad

Dad

The man was my idol, when i was just a lad.
He tried to teach me right from wrong, but i was usually bad.
We never had much time to bond, for he worked three jobs you see;
Besides, he liked my sisters best, which left no time for me.
As time went by, and life forced change, my father stayed at home.
He tried his best to be my friend, yet, together we were alone.
We never saw things eye to eye, and rarely got along.
My mom would always mediate, her voice was like a song.
I knew my father loved me though, even if he couldn't say;
By just the little things he did, he showed me his own way.
But, just before my father died, as he lay on his deathbed;
"I love you son, I love you son", is what my father said.
