Love Poem: Crossroads

Crossroads

She sits and stares off into space
Thinking of another time and place
Her eyes are sad
Her look is grim
As she tries to come to grips with the emotions within
Why didn't he love her as she loved him
What could she do to win his heart
And together make a brand new start
Her mind travels through their memories
Like a slide screen show
By the end of the trip she already knows
It's over, they will never be
If love is not there, you must set them free
Tears fall fast now to her chin
She wipes them away
And with great resolve rises to her feet
Her lips send a silent kiss
Her heart still mourns with her secret wish
She walks off into the dreary dawn
When the pain has gone
She pledges to continue on
To smile and love again some day
To find that special someone who feels the same way
