Love Poem: Confusion

Confusion

It’s a hot and prickly gruel
It swirls and twirls while we fuel
Our weary head in our hands
The mindful world turned to sand

I snick the snack of bloated greed
Sell soul for bloodied coin to feed
And sword rips down through and through
Where once my heart but recent grew

The orchestration of our wings
Stretched and tied by invisible strings
With angelic regret a muted choir
Hums a refrain of life’s desire.

I snack on the snick of unrequited love
Riposte and thrust for that above
Seeing through tears my lonesome fears
That fence me in from all I hold dear

Kismet beckons another course
And I bow to feed fulsome remorse
In the trough of hope and guilt I sway
In the cathedral of pain I pray or pay

What bright spin of thread is this
That I could be so remiss
To miss the full loom of strife
As anything but the weave of life

I sit cross-legged upon the ground
The female rebirths and I am found
I survey the field of my words
And the rape of the reap that it infers

My body settles against the pain
And riding the wave in sun again
It takes a breath for me sublime
And bell-like and pure I hear the chime

The puppies jump and make to spring
What more to life this offering
It’s here and now in my lover’s look
And without a sigh I close that book
