Complicated Lives

Some people tend to complicate their lives as well as the lives of others. No one seems for certain whether they are looking to love or to be loved.

Some hearts are like rubber that streaches when the air gets inside. But their hearts are so small, there is very little room to let others inside.

Their hearts are cold like ice in a freezer that always melts when exposed. They also build elaborate shields of steel around their hearts; They're all but

impenetrable. The entry doors to their hearts are not available to us. They are terrified of what might get inside, and nothing real comes out.

They are pretentious about most things and defensive about everything. Like the gold at the end of a rainbow, everything seems to be hidden from

them. Like them, everything seems to be elusive, fogged, and built on slippery slopes. As a result, they never tend to find what they're looking for, not even

themselves. Perhaps they are unaware of their longings to be found.
Our world is filled with the likes of them. Have you seen them?
