Love Poem: Color of Love

Color of Love

Drop me into the sea
The beautiful, beautiful sea
and point me to the ecstasy of the blowing wind
as it unfolds its wings that cover my fears

The time nears when cheers die
the skin wrinkles and dries
but I notice the seasons don’t care
they’re poetic even when storms approach

A dream encroaches
bringing the Brown man
and the Black man into the light
working and praying together for a less violent existence

Sometimes prayers work
other times they don’t
but when you are with me
I am without worry
your love reveals the cadence of the spheres to me

Skin color goes skin deep they say
but love transcends prejudices
and prejudices die where love thrives

I see my brown skin as having no color
when it combines with your pink hue
our shade becomes one, the color of love.
