Cold, Lonely Night

The night was dark, lit only by moonlight,
'Twas a lonely setting—a path of merely dark and shadow.
And in the shadows, who've claimed me their knight,
I hide in my darkness—I hide, deep, dark, and low.

I can't stand to believe one thing
That this unreal monochrome world tells me.
Whether it was fact or not—nothing,
I don't know who to believe—I don't know who to be.

But through your words—a simple statement,
You've helped me realize—you truly changed me,
I found you were that flower heaven sent,
And I'd never let you withered and dark be.

In this cold, lonely night, I couldn't depend,
On anyone—for failure and abandonment, I did fear.
All I wanted was for this night to end,
In hopes my thoughts of troubles would clear.

Yes—I knew the town I dwelt in wasn't real
I knew well—I lived in a crooked, distorted fantasy.
But in it, an incorrect correctness, I did feel
But that was until you saved me—and that all became history.

Whether truth or fake; counterfeit,
I thought that there was nothing left undefamed,
That there was nothing left without hate,
But my beliefs were swept away when you came.

For by mere words; a simple statement,
You helped me change—I'm a new person, thanks to you,
To me, you're not a flower—you're an angel heaven sent,
You rescued me, my love—you saved my heart and my life true.

And now in this icy night, on you I can depend,
In the right yet unseen path, that was where you steered me.
And now, my love, I want to—until the end—
I want to always love you—with you is where I want to be.
