Cloud Poem

“I want to hold your hand and drift with you
I want to grow with you in our journey, let the dust infuse itself into our beings over time
Until we become cumulus
And something bigger
Becoming rain and feeling each others thunder, coming together when sadness saturates one of us and holding it together
Until it becomes too much and we agree to release it over the earth
Feeding the oceans and rivers
Watering gardens
Find out that sadness has it uses
And it can also be used to sustain something beautiful
I want to comfort you in the soft rumblings of a language that’s just for us to understand
I dream of nights, of rolling/tucking ourselves into each other with the moon as lamplight and over the scornful eyes of the world (how could we be so bold) let sparks build between each others body’s until our astonishing climax lights up the entire sky
Because we have no shame
The next day we can catch a ride on the jet stream and become the envy of planes as we travel anywhere it takes us
Imagine the possibilities
Seeing France and the lights of Paris
India
Brazil
Africa
Narrowly dodge hurricanes as we pass over the Atlantic
Become shade to a desert
Visit the Alps & Kilimanjaro
And look at the world from around the peak
We could become the fog over lakes and have the experience of seeing ourselves for the first time
I want to watch you study yourself in the reflection
Realize just how gorgeous you have always been and realize how much you will be regardless of how much you change
Because I have seen all of your different shades and regardless of whether or not each one has a silver lining you are still beautiful
And worth it
I hope to grow old with you
To spend our last days amusing ourselves laughing at the children pretending to find figures in our bodies
Inspire a daydreamer with a child’s imagination to look up at us and write poems about love

Because this is how much I love you
And I want us to become parts of each other and stay that way
So that even when the wind breaks us apart and scatters the pieces like ashes we are together
Everywhere
Indistinguishable from the other clouds but still eternal”
