Love Poem: City Evenings

City Evenings

skyscrapers
stand tall
     in the heart
of the metropolis
    Only a hint
of rain tonight
   Clouds block the stars
 Yet one or two
still shine through
    City dwellers
sip tea
   and watch the
passing parade
from their windows
    One by one
they slowly tire
  and fall asleep
A flickering screen
   in each apartment
Another city evening passes
Out of the
  millions living
here
   Is there one
for you?
Is there a
heart which
  contains room
for a friend or
lover?
    Surely, the
city will answer
  your call
Eyes that have
  seen winter turn
to spring - turn to
summer
Now close for
a night
Tomorrow will be
  another search
for love
     there is
our city
gleaming at
night - like a strand of pearls
around the neck
   of an urban queen
