Love Poem: Church

Church

Every morning sitting off just to the side
More or less towards the beginning of my ride
There sat a little stone church and it's stoic rigid Cross
But as to my own invitation I would always just toss

With each new day I would just drive right on past
As to my own day it was already moving too fast
For already in my head so many thoughts were racing
Because it was yet just another day for which I was bracing

And as Monday went and Tuesday quickly came
I decided that this day would not be the same
I made a quick turn and pulled into that lot
Didn't you ever yearn for something you ain't got

Pulling at that wooden door they seemed to be closed
But oh what was in store by the simple remark posed
For standing there with a key in a calm quite voice
Father said to me, "it seems that you have made a choice"

I was about to speak and somewhat explain my side
When with a loud squeak Father opened that door wide
Gesturing with his hand allowing me to enter first
If you can understand I felt like I was going to burst

And in entering the pew and kneeling down on my knees
I simply cried out anew and told God all my pleas
In rising back to my feet and heading out the door
I was soon back on the street but my spirit started to soar

Yes that day was so different with such a feeling inside
That I soon again went just putting everything else aside
And looking back on all those days it so quickly comes to thought
That just to give Him praise is all I ever really sought

And as I am created like you and you are created like me
Then if this you shall also do then you too shall be free
So the next time you see such a place just off to the side
Maybe it was meant to be that you finally went back inside
