Christmas In a Stocking

I look up at the mantelpiece
Where hang the Christmas stockings.
Red, blue, green and yellow socks
For Mom’s little darlings.
I wonder what is held inside
Each foot that is bulging?
I sure hope they’re full of chocolates
And some candy for grazing.

I really love Christmas time
And see those stockings in a row.
I love to guess what’s in my one
That’s hanging a bit below.
It feels like something hard,
But I know I shouldn’t touch.
I’m just a child being tempted
Whilst I’m waiting for my lunch.

Is Christmas really in a stocking,
Or is it beneath a Christmas tree?
Where did Christmas come from?
It’s a good idea for me!
When my Mom says I’ve behaved,
I get lots of presents under the tree.
But the best of Christmas is in my stocking
With special gifts of importance to me.
