Chicken Dinner

"Chicken" Dinner

Invited,
for the first time,
it might well be the last.

A tux was too much,
a swimsuit too little.
I thought I would dance,
turns out I can't.

I don't tell jokes well,
I am not the life of the party.

Yet, I tell you true,
I will take care of her,
Sir,
I mean...
Ma'am.
the very best that I can.

She will never do without
if and there is anything...
to be provided.
Our children will be safe,
until I die.

I will teach
God,
family
and country...
until the end.

Blessings,
I ask...
to take her,
hand.
To give her everything,
that I can,
until there is...
nothing left,
to give.
