Love Poem: Chasing Silhouettes

Chasing Silhouettes

I can cook up numbers,
manipulate the sheets
Sometimes chase shadows
not knowing I am beat,
You can trick my senses
sweep me off my feet,
With a smile so beautiful,
easily launch a Trojan fleet

I can change the figures,
make ends appear to meet
Pretend you are my lover,
be slave to false beliefs
Please gaze upon my eyes,
don’t turn away your seat
Grant me this one moment,
it will be treasured eternally

I can move the goalposts,
then lie through my teeth
Live in an empty dreamworld,
let you fill my fantasies
I never regretted this secret,
or a love so incomplete
Yet in one sided attractions,
a crush just beats defeat

I can conjure up magic
almost unlock reality
Take others for a ride,
perhaps down a shady street
Your different than the rest,
a very special treat
I still see you time to time,
sublimating my poetry
