Love Poem: Chasing Rainbows

Chasing Rainbows

To ransom each tear fallen on your face
And set their worth to appease your heart
To search your soul for a love you can trace
You quietly find reasons to depart
As love can not flourish in passion's cold
Nor be a shadow that hides in sunlight
To travel roads in shoes that now are old
And dress in rooms paid that glow with candlelight
The empty life chose to chase riches spent
That left furrows on your face etched by time
And each breath taken filled with discontent
While you wait, the amount of sunsets climb

A memory shared, you did concede
A world you sought I did not impede
