Chasing One's Shadow

Time flies in a blink of an eye
fluttered high to memory lane
A sudden glimpse and then I sigh
those residue from the past pain
eating you alive, sucking you dry
from insides up to the brain

Each strand is a touch by linger
emanating trains full of thoughts
which draws denial plus anger
poured in the cauldron of mere quotes

Calm lights rekindled deep within
resonating its evil twin
a cloak for sanity to sheath
like quicksand drowning deep beneath

Ended up meeting the same fate
that once tried to pull you over
against that vortex of pure hate
filled the city,scorching ember

I do want to break free, but how?
these cuffs bound for eternity
A formidable enemy
cast by your very own shadow
being chased away in the down low
the question is, will you allow?
