Love Poem: Chances

Chances

Chances
Chances I am afraid to take;
My heart is so easy to break.
Beguiled by a deceiving smile.
For better or worse,
the vows I dare not make;
Chances that I dare not take.!

The past’s been sealed by my mistakes.
Your smile’s, but an inviting trap.
The eyes don't lie.
Here’s what they speak
“Take the chance; they say
I place this decision in your lap”.

I will give you a good honeymoon
though abrupt may be the union
Yes, that’s what those eyes revealed to me.
The eyes cannot pretend.
“Chances are I won’t commit,” they said.
and that's why of love I ‘am shy...

Don’t want to give my love away
just to be hurt again in the end.
“Oh, love why have thou forsaken me”?
And why have you given me such wise eyes...?
And a discerning spirit, that burns inside?
As I still yearn for the comfort that love makes.

Still, no chances do I take...
Afraid to make mistakes;
No trust, no life, no risk...
Nearly always cautious.
Afraid to be surprised
“So paranoid it makes me nauseous”
What kind of life will I have;
If I bury my head in the past?

This is nonsense, So I relent;
Come and catch me in the trap of your smile.
Embrace me with your gaze.
Teach me to trust again.
This loneliness has gotten vicious!
Maybe if l am able to love again.

I’ll be not so quite suspicious.
I may be vulnerable, but lovable;
I’ll try again as I give in,
throwing caution to the gods of chance
Now open for the arms of romance.
Awaiting to be ravished and kissed
Taking one last risk.
For loves possibilities.
