Love Poem: Captivated

Captivated

It was in his gaze
The intent look of depth
As though he saw more
Than I’d allow him to see
As though he could see
Right through me
Like the walls didn’t matter
Or the gates were fluid
And no matter how concrete
My poker face could be
It meant nothing
If he could read my thoughts
And answer my unspoken words
With a facial expression

He would tread ever so lightly
On the painful memories
Yet dive in where there’d
Be nothing but joy
And his questions were
Calculated
As he knew my next step
Like a dance
Or a game
Not blinking at all
He got me intrigued
More so
Held my attention
So easily
