Love Poem: Can'T Live Without You

Can'T Live Without You

Her heart rate speeds up
Moisture seeps into her eyes
As she stares down at the girl
Who once was herself

Up in heaven she shall watch
A memorial served within her honor
Loved ones have gathered around
Dressed in all black
Out of respect for the dead

Heads are bowed down low
Teardrops fall from their cheeks
A priest at the stands
Willing her to peace

Hearts break
And never fill in
Until finally it ends

People file out
But right at her grave
One person still stands brave

He lays down some flowers
With a carved wooden box
Then he leaves silently
So she walks up behind

She opens the box
Peering down within
While her heart breaks again

A gold metal heart
On a bed of hay
On the engraving it shall say

'My love, for you, on our anniversary
You’re my everything
My life
I can’t live without you'

A hand brushes hers
She quickly turns around
In front of her eyes
Stands the boy she loves

Frigid is how she stands
Thinking this is all a trick
Until he leans in towards her
And whispers in her ear
"It’s true
I can’t live without you"
