Candy Coated Memories

Candy Coated Memories

Remembering the days of old
and standing there in line.
Watching all the people pass
holding your hand in mine.

Bell bottom jeans and flared out sleeves
when what far out meant was groovy.
M&Ms and popcorn
while we're watching some old movie.

Stealing kisses in the dark
being watched by unseen faces.
Praying that my upper lip
don't get stuck inside your braces.

Fountain pops and lemon drops
you just let me go so far.
Intermission was a good invention
it's time for a Hersey bar.

I'm just a guy they just roll by
I'm not picking up your hints.
Trying to win you over
With life savers and thin mints.

Movies almost over
I can't bring myself to beg.
Wanting more I'll settle for
just one hand on your leg.

Off to get some ice cream
and a piece of homemade pie.
Spending every dime I got
for the apple of my eye.
