Candles I Lighted For You

I heard the birds sing, felt when the beguiled breeze blew only for you, as the sunburst sky flushed your face in hue. How adorable you became to me you had no clue, if only you knew. After the gloomy night in your gorgeous garden I found me, how brightly I’d sparkled like the pristine pearl of ecstasy, perched on the petal of your purple rose a drop of dew, if only you knew. From the trove of eternity I got the treasure of time we shared, like the surreal sunburst sky my yearning in rave reverie flared. How keen I was to see the day my dream would come true, if only you knew. In blue firmament of your fathomless eyes my fervor had flown to the beautiful nest I’d built to become abode of our own. How securely I sheltered my memory as the storm blew, if only you knew. The sonorous sound of your voice sailed in the silence of longing, the melody mesmerized the void mind of my lonesome being. How complete I became when you made me a person new, if only you knew. When drifting on the meandering trail of melting mirage you left, like the dry sands of caved-in dune I felt deserted and bereft. How sadly my unsaid words, ‘you’re mine’, I heard rue, if only you knew. When your enthralling essence remained with me as a shadow, dissolved in the darkness of the abyss of my heart hollow, how many candles my love had lighted there for you, if only you knew.
