Love Poem: Butterfly

Butterfly

What is man supposed to do?
when confronted with forbidden fruit,
utterly sensual exotic juice
that has my best friend calling wonderful.
Now, I’m not the one to jeopardize friendships
withstood the time of sacred youth,
but, I can’t help but think of a better life
with her by my side, to tell the honest truth.
All day long I stay craving for her
to look at me and see my heart,
feeling as though I am homesick; I stay motionless
over the girl I’m supposed to be looking after.
So difficult is the task
of keeping my emotions still; beneath my skin,
that I often wish of another existence
where the girl of my dreams wasn’t to be ‘another man’s happy ending’.
It’s quite a tearful tragedy
to seemly exchange conversations; laced with hidden aims,
as if ever he were to discover my secret intentions
things would never be the same, in the times of suicide games.
In my sincerity, I pledge to do
what is right by my truest buddy,
but situations take a turn for the worst
whenever opportunities arise, to see a face so truly lovely.
I try and try, but she is all I think about
when alone; imagining that special kind,
that special someone to have butterflies soaring by
flickering and fluttering high, all through your mind.
Yet, never once have to stopped to invoke
a devious scheme to steal her away from him,
as its already hard enough to look him in the eyes
without having a guilty conscience being brought to the brim.
In this current state of where she is
never could I reveal my true love for her,
so forever in my dreams,
may she set flight to always fly beautifully.
