Brittle

Twisted into the shape of a jagged diamond,
i squeeze tightly in aspiration not to lose my bloody grasp,
cutting me to peices but i do not let go
as i watch the life continually flow out of us both,
the one jewel in my ragged tore down world
i wish to hold as a keepsake for all of time,
but i have done nothing more than deminish your true value,
in my hands your shine has been lost,
you validity has wore thin,
and your strength has come tumbling to an end,
for i have loosened my grip to find
there is only a hardened rock
where my prized possesion once lay resting
