Boundaries

Connecting the boundaries
of dreams and reality.
What is real, what is not?
I want to go back to sleep.
Finish the last page of this screenplay.
It was so engaging.
So real.
This time it made sense.
Perfectly presented to me
so I awaken, forced to decide
which life my blood is pumping in.
Flip a coin.
Heads=lay my head back on the pillow.
Tails=splash water on my face.
The present rests upon the copper penny
as it spins for eternity.
It lands under the bed, invisible to my eyes.
Fumble!
I did not make up the rules for any
mishaps, so I quickly decide on a resolution.
Spin again.
Heads!
Falling to the down feathers
sinking into oblivion.
I pick up where I ended.
It's him again.
A decade of his face in my dreams.
The saga proceeds a chapter further
ending with wet sheets and short breath.
I hear from him today.
There is no such thing as a coincidence.
Calm.
Smile.
Faith.
History.
