Love Poem: Born of Breakers

Born of Breakers

broad strokes to ease that aching sky
that shed its tears so hooves could fly
of fears and fathoms, brought to dash
upon the reefs where waves will crash

a brine that birthed you deep as death
by Neptune's grace, to take my breath
how could this man of flesh and needs
refuse these lithe and beautied steeds

you see, this happened, not by chance
they came to tempt my love to dance
for long I've prayed these seas impart
the wondrous means to melt her heart

so should you bring her heart to swoon
bedecked with beams of crescent moon
beg, grant her your broad flanks to ride
with haste and form straight to my side

such equine dreams will beg she stays
as I'm dissolved, deep 'midst her gaze
like you - two eyes of chestnut brown
that sea, where I will gladly ... drown.
