Blues and All

Sitting at a bar
Just thinking about life
Then a man walked in
Looking a mess
Hey mate, you good?

I took a drink to make a toast
And that's when he said
Mr. Bartender give me your best
For tonight I'm a free man
Let's forget all the rest and then he looked my way,
Saying:

A drink or two to stop feeling blue
Love is mind blowing only when it's real
She took it all, all away
And I didn't even ask for it back

Its not you, it's me
Well, haven't I heard that a million times
She never said all the words I needed to hear
And now I'm left with the blues

I can sing too
I'll sing the truth
For the pain and the hurt
Tonight I'll sing the blues

Poor fellow
He had his heart broken and all
And all he did was come to a half empty place like this
I couldn't help it
So mate, it's on me

He took a shot to make a toast
and that's when I said
Mr. Bartender give me your Best
For tonight I shall speak freely
Let's not forget all the rest and then I looked his way,
Saying:

A drink or two to stop feeling blue
Love is mind blowing only when it's real
I know she took it all, all away
And you didn't even ask for it back

Its not you it's me
Well, hadn't you heard that a million times
He never said all the words I needed to hear
And now I'm left here with the blues

I can sing too
I'll sing the truth
For the pain and the hurt
Tonight I'll sing the blues

I was barely sober but my mind was right
I only just took some apple juice
I felt sad, sad for him too
I looked his way and he wasn't there
That's when I realised
That I was sitting here too feeling blue
