Love Poem: Birds

Birds

I've always had a connection with birds you see
One of God's gifts to brighten the day for me
In a list of my favorites these surely must be...

The birds in my gardens are like old friends
Robins, jays and chickadees to the yard descend
Tiny hummingbirds who's beauty transcends

In my peaceful walks in our open space
I often watch red tailed hawks soar with grace
Meadow lark's songs bring a smile to my face

Beautiful birds lead by the graceful swans
Strutting peacocks to whose feathers I'm drawn
Peaceful doves whose coos greet the dawn

The bower bird under his quiet disguise
Brings home colorful things as her prize
Trying to catch his mates critical eyes

To list only ten is a difficult chore
These top my list but so many more
So many wonderful birds to adore
