Between Friends
They were in love and they hated each other.
They couldn’t stand to be in the same room together.
Falling in love was a new experience.
It changed the way they looked at the world
and the way they looked at themselves.
It brought with it the intense agony
and ecstasy; the hedonism
that are part of being in love.
They didn’t want to fall in love but
they couldn’t help themselves.
It was something out of their control.
They had once been best friends
but now,
because of the woman they loved,
they hated each other.
