Berlin Is Where It Ends

Berlin was the last time we saw each other's eyes
Berlin was different then

Berlin was the last time I saw her beautiful smile
Berlin was once my friend

Berlin before the shadow stole the light
Berlin risked lives on the sharpest knives

Berlin is where the bunker lies
Berlin was where it ends

I never returned to see Berlin
I never said goodbye to my friend

I thought she'd never get out alive
When the mission blew up both ends

I now stand on the city line where once I waited for my comrade, my lover and my friend
I step into Berlin to see her ghost in time but nothing comprehends

I hear the guns, I hear the cries
The silence of death and screaming nightmares never lies

I see a figure looking at the point of line
I see a figure, a female, aged of war and time
I see a lady I think I once knew for a time

I walk toward her with a tearful smile
I hold out my hand and ask her to go and risk the extra mile
She smiles and says so many years have passed since she stood here waiting for her friend
So many tears for losing sight in a mission to bring it to an end

As she reaches for my hand she looks into my eyes
Tears flow behind the shimmering view of love lost to that fight

We stand and realise who we are, she steps over the line
The war, the mission, the memories and risks now are dead in time

Berlin is where I see her beautiful smile as we stand here hand in hand
Berlin was where we once lost love
In Berlin we found our love again
