Love Poem: Beloved

Beloved

I had a dream of you last night
   when sweet sleep finally came
while outside the wind was blowing loud
and stars were flickering above . . .
you took my hand and I rose up above
and became a spirit girl drifting. . .
we flew over mountains high
   and valleys deep and green
but it was so dark and silent in this dream
   not even a night bird song . . .
then suddenly snow is caressing me
as you kiss my red lips and eyelids
and I touch your cold white cheek . . .
oh, why is my heart beating so loud
I think it will break in a thousand pieces
   as I press you close beloved . . .
and then we are falling, swirling down . . .
I cannot hold you anymore and must let go
then, I am laying in the deep snow
where your tomb is engraved - beloved
