Before You Say I Love You

Please
with the intimacy
of your desires
do not cloud
my heart,
my mind,
my soul.
This
rose colored
afterglow
is not love
but a pretender.
Let me know you
and you know me.
Together
we will search
to see
where and how
we fit
in our wants,
our needs,
our goals.
If we build
this house
of love
does it not
need a foundation?
Talk to me
and I will listen
that I may know
the beauty
and wonder
of your heart,
your mind,
your soul.
Hear my words,
can you see
in me
the beauty
and wonder
that is me?
Is the future
we see
a dream
we both share?
With love
will the flames
of desire
not burn hotter?

Will you walk away

before you know

if I say

NO ?
