Love Poem: Because They Were In Love

Because They Were In Love

I attended my sisters wedding
as she married an Italian man quite charming
the promise between them a delicate flower
the wedding was in a huge church with a thousand stairs
or so it seemed
while they vowed their love in the church it began to rain
not just rain but a torrential downpour . . .
okay- so try to get down a thousand steps without tripping
wearing high heels in the rain . . .
she had wanted an outdoor wedding
no problem said dad.
canopy tents covered our backyard for a nice catered affair
the shed was the bar
tables set so elegant . . .
yet the rain refused to go away in fact got worse
I will never forget the bride and groom at the head table
her hair like a flowing river- both
trying to smile while holding an umbrella . . .
and thunder booming from above
but guess what
I don't think it mattered because
love is the answer . . .
